THE GRANGE GAZETTE

September 2023 Edition

Our residents are currently creating knitted items which will enable the Grange to YARNBOMB our beautiful gardens and gates to the house.

We are calling on all families, friends and staff to help knit and crochet some of our fabulous designs together with an appeal for any oddments of wool. We look forward to hearing from any crocheters who like a challenge, patient pom-pomers or knotty knitters and hope this will be the perfect project to brighten everyones day.

Shirley would like to thank you for all your support and kindness throughout the year. We would also like to thank the singing artists for their warmth and commitment during a very busy month. We enjoy regular visits from volunteer musicians who assist and encourage singing practice alongside our choir; the Elderberries. Children continue to be involved in visits and intergenerational activities and enjoy fundraising for local hospices by selling plants at the Grange. We are truly blessed and thankful for everyone's enthusiasm and commitment.

We would particularly like to thank Russell Weaver for braving the M1 motorway closure last month and still reaching the Grange to entertain our residents. He simply ‘did not want to let them down’.

We would also like to mention the ‘Craghoppers’ Chris, Rob, Andrew and George from the Grand Central Chorus who volunteered their time and visited the Grange captivating everyone with their superb harmonies. They were delighted when introduced to members of our own choir. We all sang together and had a wonderful visit. We anticipate seeing them in the near future and will be practising a new song list in readiness for their return.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

The end of September wil see fundraising events all over the country supporting Macmillan with their big Coffee Morning. With so many events on and around the same date this year we have decided to raise funds by holding a raffle for an afternoon tea for two with prosecco.

With tickets priced at £1 the winner will be drawn on 29th September. We thank you in anticipation of your support for this worthwhile cause. Details will be on display along with tickets and payment tin outside the manager's office from the first week in September.

Terry Hallam Memorial Quiz Trophy

Our monthly quiz is well received by both residents and families and we are quickly approaching the end of the year when the yearly Quiz Champion will be announced. Scores are accumulated and average scores determine the overall winner.

Thank you to everyone who took part in last month's quiz and we congratulate Joyce and Margaret H who both gained top marks.

September Birthday

This month we wish Jean the very best of days as she celebrates her birthday on Friday 22nd. Everyone at the Grange wishes Jean a very Happy Birthday.
