The Grange Gazette

October 2023 Edition

Autumn leaves are falling down

Red and yellow

Gold and brown

We would like to thank Michelle for creating the beautiful trees in our main lounge area which compliment the seasons, brighten the room and bring the beauty of our garden inside the Grange for everyone to enjoy.

With autumn approaching the clocks change in the early hours of Sunday the 29th and we gain an hour.  There will be more light in the mornings but the evenings will be ‘drawing in’ and gradually become darker.

Activities and Happenings!

This month we welcome Dale with Pooches therapy dogs Bertie and Ruby to the Grange.  We thoroughly enjoy greeting both dogs and look forward to regular visits from Bertie and Ruby who are definitely our four-legged friends! It is always a pleasure to chat with Dale and make a fuss of his therapy dogs.  We hope to use a special recipe before their visit and make dog biscuits which will be gifted to Dale enabling him to raise funds for Pooches.  Please let Shirley know if there are any fur-babies out there who would like to sample the treats beforehand!

St. Giles Christmas Tree Festival

We have been asked to take part in the Christmas Tree Festival at St Giles in Sandiacre. The festival takes place over the 3rd and 4th December and residents will be making ornaments during the run-up to this event and decorating their dedicated tree. This is a wonderful community activity and visitors to the Grange will be able to see identical decorations on our own Christmas tree and receive them as gifts from their family members.  As we write there are only 92 days until Christmas Day!

Helping Others

We have received a  kind donation of cardstock which will enable residents to make a generous amount of handmade cards.

We anticipate these will be on sale in the main foyer towards the end of the month with proceeds in aid of Treetops and Ward 2 of the Florence Nightingale Hospital Derby.

Foodbank Collection

After a tremendous response to our foodbank collection last year we continue to help others.

Throughout November you will find a collection point situated in the main reception area and donations delivered to

the Long Eaton Caanan Trust well in time

for Christmas.  While we appreciate times are difficult for everyone we thank you in advance for supporting this worthwhile project in the true meaning of Christmas.
