THE GRANGE GAZETTE

NOVEMBER 2021 EDITION

Our singing group,

‘The Elderberries,’

played their first concert last month and received a warm welcome from residents and staff.

The Elderberries are now practicing for their Christmas Concert and would love new members to join them every Wednesday afternoon in the dining room.

We look forward to seeing you.

Royal British Legion

Johnny Victory returns to the Grange on November 2nd with his tribute to the armed forces and songs from the 1940s.  We hope you will join him after lunch.

This year Armistice Day falls on Thursday 11th and Remembrance Sunday on the 14th.  We have poppies for all residents if required.

Throughout the past weeks we have used a poppy theme to craft decorations and bouquets and are proud to say the efforts of Marion, Kathleen and Janette have raised in excess of £110 for the Royal British Legion. We anticipate this sum will increase from the sale of bouquets at The Stanhope Arms in Stanton-by-Dale after we answered their call to raise funds for such a good cause. We would like to thank them for their kind words and lovely photograph which can be seen on the Stanhope Arms Facebook page.

We hope you enjoy the display of crafted poppies brightening the planters, gates and railings.

Children in Need

We are fortunate enough to enjoy weekly visits from Papa John who supports our singing group and plays guitar, banjo and harmonica.

On the afternoon of Saturday 13th November John has organised various musicians to play at a charity event for Children in Need at The Chequers Inn in Breaston. The afternoon session of acoustic music will be held in the beer garden marquee from 3pm-6pm and we send our best wishes for a successful event.

November Birthdays

This month we have three birthdays to celebrate.

Kath W enjoys her special day on the 6th with Margaret F celebrating on the 9th.  We also wish Audrey many happy returns on the 16th November.

Everyone at the Grange send their best wishes to you all and hope you have the best of days.

Christmas Countdown

Christmas is approaching and we have stock of ‘family’ cards if you require something nice.  We also have a section of assorted Christmas cards on Shirley’s Santa Trolly and personalised cards can be created during our craft sessions.  We will be making decorations and stocking fillers for your family or friends so please have a word with Shirley who is happy to help.
