THE GRANGE GAZETTE

JULY 2023 EDITION

PET and ANIMAL THERAPY MONTH at the GRANGE

This month we are looking forward to visits from Alfie the Therapy Horse, Kristoff the Giant Rabbit and Bertie and Ruby from Pooches Therapy Dogs.

Your fur-babies are always welcome to visit and we look forward to meeting them later in the month when residents will award rosettes and treats to all visiting pets. If you are unable to visit please forward photographs of your pets to Shirley who together with our residents, will create a collage to display at the Grange. Details can be found in the main reception area and we thank family, friends and staff in anticipation of a lovely event.

Entertainment and Activities

We have a varied calendar of entertainment this month with Elvis (aka Big Dave Bopper) calling in on American Independence Day for an afternoon of rock and roll. So have your blue suede shoes ready and be sure to be in the dining room area for an afternoon of your favourite songs from the 50s and 60s. Family, friends and staff are always welcome to join in the fun.

Alan Hill will also be returning to entertain everyone with his gentle songs and warm voice. Alan has performed on a number of cruise ships over the years and we are happy to see him back at the Grange. We wish him the best of health after a difficult year.

Details of forthcoming entertainment can be found in the main corridor and the Grange Gazette. Our newsletter can also be found on the Grange Residential Home web page.

Vinnie's Plant and Produce Stall

Ten year old Vinnie would like to thank everyone for supporting him with his fundraising efforts in aid of Treetops and the Ward 2 Hospice at the Florence Nightingale Community Hospital in Derby.

Together with the plants and cuttings he has helped to grow, Vinnie now has punnets of raspberries on sale to raise funds.

He calls in at his grandma's house each morning before school and picks the berries which are freshly available at the Grange just one hour later priced at £1 for a large punnet. Enjoy!

Activity Box

The Activity Box for visiting children and families can be found adjacent to the signing in register. Items will continue to be changed regularly and include colouring sheets and pencils, playing cards, jigsaws and dominoes along with reminisce material.

We also have a small library of children's books relating to dementia and we are happy for you to take these home on loan. All we ask is that you add your name to our Library Record Book and return the books at your convenience. We hope these will be of help during your visits.

July Birthdays

This month we celebrate four birthdays with Ena and Margaret enjoying their special days on the 9th, Agnes on the 14th and Sandra on the 21st. Everyone at the Grange wishes you all the very best of days.
