The Grange Gazette

April 2023 Edition

Wishing residents, family, friends and staff

a lovely Easter, warm sunshine

and the beauty of spring all around you

We say hello to Spring as it brings new life and new beauty to everything around us; the lighter evenings, the beautiful spring flowers and the sights and sounds in our garden at the Grange.

May this season bring you joy and peace

Youtube and Instagram

The Grange are proud of the activities our residents enjoy and we can be found on YouTube ‘Live & Local with Laura Brodrick’ showing the lifelines we created to highlight our residents' rich life stories.  We can now be found on Instagram showcasing our ‘Have-a-Go’ art group by searching ‘sandiacre_grange_artgroup’ where residents, families and friends can see the group's achievements. Please be reassured that residents' privacy will be respected.  We are currently working on a new installation called ‘It's raining Cats and Dogs’ and hope you will follow our Instagram page for further photographs and inspiring comments.

Entertainment

We have an exciting month ahead with the introduction of new entertainers and the return of Godfrey Graver to play the piano in our reception area.  On April 4th we welcome Richard Comfort to the Grange.  Last year Richard appeared on television in ITVs Starstruck and he will be entertaining you with a selection of your favourite songs.  Please join him in the dining area after lunch and extend a big Grange welcome.  We are also looking forward to a visit from Nick Golden on the 11th and we hope you will enjoy a singalong with songs from the ‘golden age’ of entertainment.

We would also like to thank Godfrey for visiting the Grange and for donating to our chosen cause of Treetops and Ward 2 Hospice at the Florence Nightingale Hospital. His time and generosity are greatly appreciated.  Our fundraising is gaining momentum and we would like to thank everyone for supporting our raffles and supplying items for our forthcoming tombola.  If you have any items which can be donated to this event please have a word with Shirley or a member of staff.  Thank you.

The Elderberries

Join the Elderberries singing group for our singing practice on the morning of Wednesday 19th April when PJ will visit to accompany our group on his guitar and banjo.  We welcome everyone to join in and singalong and we hope you will find our sessions uplifting and a great way to meet new residents and friends.  Details will be posted on the notice board and we look forward to seeing you in the main lounge from 11am.

Easter Bonnets

Our Easter Bonnet Parade will be on Sunday 9th April.  We hope you will wear your bonnets and hats with pride after all your hard work creating

such beautiful designs!

April Birthdays

This month we wish Betty a very happy 85th birthday on the 3rd. Peter celebrates his birthday on the 12th while Pat looks forward to her special day on the 20th.  We hope you all thoroughly enjoy your birthdays and everyone at the Grange wishes you many happy returns of the day.

Library Books

The mobile library will call in to exchange your books on April 4th. Please have a word with Shirley if you would like to be added to their scheme.
